Department Politic and Government Sciences Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Undip : Public Lecture by the Indonesian Minister of Human Rights & Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Between Undip and the Indonesian Ministry of Human Rights

Semarang, October 30, 2025 – In collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia ( KemenHAM RI), the Department Political And Knowledge Government Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Diponegoro University held a public lecture by the Minister of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Natalius Pigai, and acted as host for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between UNDIP by the Chancellor of UNDIP Prof. Dr. Suharnomo , SE, M.Si. and the Ministry of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Minister Natalius The event focused on cooperation in the human rights sector, particularly encouraging Undip to become a pioneering university in optimizing human rights. The event was attended by no fewer than 450 participants, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, media personnel, and the academic community. Diponegoro University academics .

In his remarks , Chairman Department Political And Knowledge Undip Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Administration said , ” Cooperation between University Diponegoro and the Ministry of Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, is form real government For support inclusive education processes And sustainable .” After welcome chairman organizers , the event continues with signing Memorandum of Understanding cooperation .

Through the signing, Undip is projected to become a pioneering campus for the Human Rights Study Center and initiate a master’s program in the same field. In this regard, the Dean of FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol . Admin welcomed the vision with the plan to establish a Human Rights Corner on the FISIP campus. Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Undip Rector conveyed the university’s commitment as a NKRI campus and a representation of the national spirit. “Undip has been committed to being an NKRI Campus since its inception. We open our doors as wide as possible to all children of the nation, including those from the 3T regions. We want to ensure they have equal opportunities to pursue higher education in all faculties at Undip,” he said.

Following remarks from the Rector of Diponegoro University, the event continued with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the presentation of souvenirs . The event then continued with a public lecture with the Minister of Law and Human Rights, which provided a platform for students to deepen their understanding of human rights and law enforcement in Indonesia. Unlike typical public lectures, this session took the form of an interactive, open dialogue.

During the dialogue, the Minister shared extensive views on various human rights issues in Indonesia, from the dynamics of human rights enforcement, challenges in resolving cases, to the government’s concrete steps to strengthen protection for all citizens. He emphasized that human rights are the most valuable asset on earth and the primary foundation for building a just civilization. He then invited students and the community to Diponegoro University academics are encouraged to actively participate in the fight for social justice and promote humanitarian values, through research, education, and concrete actions on campus and in the community. This call also aligns with efforts to strengthen the Undip Center for Human Rights Studies, which is expected to become a platform for developing knowledge, research, and strategic collaboration on humanitarian issues, enabling Undip to play a greater role in promoting the enforcement of human rights in Indonesia.
