“Undip has provided many meaningful experiences for me. I realize that in my study so far, the environment is something very expensive and meaningful. It was the environment that got me to this point. Undip has allowed me to have such a very supportive environment. Education is a weapon to change the world, said Nelson Mandela. Therefore, education is very important to achieve a better life for the nation. However, remember to change yourself first. Lectures and organizations are places of learning that are equally important. Classes provide a theoretical intake of knowledge, while the field, including organization, provides a very wide practice space. Both are in the corridor of education and must be balanced” said Firhandika Ade Santury, the 167th graduate of the Department of Governance Studies, Faculty of Social Science and Political Science, Universitas Diponegoro.

“I joined several organizations and had activities outside Undip in addition to being active in class. Such as being part of the management of several Student Activity Units at the faculty level. Take the example, religious, socio-political, sports, and the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement. Besides, I was also served as chairman in the management of the Undip Fisip Student Senate in 2020, Vice-Chairman of the UKMF Badminton FISIP Undip, Chairaman of the Semarang Regency Regional Communication Forum, Coordinator of the Bestari Library Literacy Community in Semarang Regency, Coordinator of the 2022 Undip Gusdurian Network, Youth Arts Association, and active internship for almost a year at the Indonesian Forum for the Environment in Central Java in 2021. On several occasions, I was also involved in managing the Undip Political Science Masters journal and participated in several training activities of several NGOs, as well as participated in several community advocacies in the conflict area,” continued this 3.93 GPA graduate.

Firhandika said he also had participated in a poetry and short story writing competition which gave him the opportunity to get his work published in a book by Sapardi Djoko Darmono and got the consolation prize winner in an open competition. He believed that the measure of his achievement was community service, starting from advocating and defending those who had limited living space. (Lin-PR)
