Isdaryati, an alumnus of Government Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Undip class of 1983 initiated the “Warung HMPSIP” movement along with the Government Studies Student Association “HMPSIP” FISIP Undip. Twice a week, Warung HMPSIP will distribute free meals to Undip FISIP students.
“For underprivileged students, at least they can have lunch,” said Isdaryati when contacted by the Contributor Team of the Undip IKA website, Friday (30/9).
According to her, the free food distribution activity came from her concern for the condition of the Indonesian people during the Covid-19 pandemic several times ago. “I thought why don’t we put the students as our target either, because my own friend did experience the suffer while he got Covid-19, kuliahi anake (his child’s education, red) was in a mess,” said the woman who now worked as an entrepreneur in Solo.
Monday and Thursday were chosen by Isdaryati after coordinating with the Dean of FISIP Undip, Hardi Warsono. Based on the explanation from the Dean of FISIP Undip, Undip held a similar activity on Tuesday and Wednesday. Likewise, on Friday, many people shared free meals through the mosques. Therefore, Monday and Thursday were chosen to distribute the meals for students.
Every day no less than 100 rice boxes are distributed to FISIP Undip students. This number will continue to grow because several other alumni have registered to become donors. Isdaryati hoped that this activity could motivate others to give alms through the distribution of free meals to students in other faculties.
Furthermore, Isdariyati said, by cooperating with students who were members of the Undip HMPSIP organization, she wanted to invite and teach positive activities. “I want to invite the children to share, including in managing funds and organizing activities while distributing the meals,” she concluded.
