Temanggung (07/18/2024) – The Child Identity Card (KIA) is an identification document for children, similar in function to the National Identity Card (KTP). The issuance of the KIA is based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation No. 2 of 2016 concerning the Child Identity Card, aimed at supporting the fulfillment of civil rights for children. The KIA is issued for children aged 0-5 years and 5-17 years minus one day. The main difference between these two age groups is that the KIA for infants and toddlers does not include a photo, while the KIA for children aged 5-17 years minus one day requires a photo. Although the issuance of the KIA has been promoted by the government since 2016, some areas, including Muneng Village in Candiroto Subdistrict, Temanggung Regency, have not fully optimized the program’s implementation. Therefore, to support the success of the KIA program, Essa Rella Pangestu, a Government Science student from Diponegoro University’s Community Service Program Team II 2023/2024, collaborated with village officials to encourage and assist the community in the process of creating the KIA in Muneng Village.

This activity took place on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the Muneng Village Hall, with the support of Mr. Catur Wawan Widodo, Head of the Government Section. The event began with remarks from Mr. Widodo, who provided an explanation about the Child Identity Card (KIA) and the steps for obtaining one. Afterward, students from Diponegoro University’s Community Service Program Team II 2023/2024 facilitated the registration, identity data collection, and photo-taking for each child. A total of 122 residents participated in the KIA creation process during the event.

After the activity concluded, the students conducted a data recap and edited the photo backgrounds according to the KIA requirements, with a red background for children born in odd-numbered years and a blue background for those born in even-numbered years. Essa also assisted village officials in submitting the data to the Temanggung Regency Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) via Google Forms.

This initiative is expected to make a positive contribution by accelerating the KIA issuance process in Muneng Village and raising community awareness about the importance of fulfilling children’s civil rights through official identity documents. The involvement of UNDIP’s Community Service Program Team II students in this activity demonstrates a strong synergy between educational institutions and village government in supporting a national program aimed at community welfare.
