Semarang, April 19, 2026 – The Government Studies Student Association (HMPS) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, has once again organized a capacity-building program for its functionaries through Upgrading Vol. 1. This year’s theme, “From Plan to Impact: Strengthening Strategic Program Planning,” reflects the organization’s commitment to establishing a solid planning foundation at the start of the administrative term. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, this session emphasized hands-on practice to produce concrete outputs. This structured approach serves as a primary step in fostering a more systematic and goal-oriented organizational work culture.
The program was conducted in two phases, on April 12 and April 19, 2026, at the Fimena Auditorium. On the first day, participants were introduced to the Project Management Plan (PMP) as the fundamental basis for designing work programs. The material was presented through a blend of theory, real-world examples, and simulations to ensure practical understanding. Following the session, participants were tasked with drafting an event plan tailored to their respective departments. This process was designed to instill a strategic mindset in designing organizational activities.
On the second day, the program proceeded to a public review session, which served as the core of the upgrading series. Each department presented the event plans they had developed over the previous week. This forum functioned as both a presentation of ideas and an interactive space for discussion through Q&A sessions. Participants were challenged to defend their arguments and explain their planning logic systematically. Consequently, the upgrading session transcended basic training, serving as a direct medium for evaluation and capacity strengthening.
Through this initiative, there has been a marked improvement in the participants’ understanding of the importance of organizational planning. Functionaries have begun to realize that a work program must not only be executed but also designed with clear objectives, targeted beneficiaries, and measurable success indicators. Furthermore, communication and collaborative skills within departments improved significantly during the discussion and presentation phases. The final event plans produced by each department serve as tangible proof of the successful integration of theory and practice.
Upgrading Vol. 1 establishes the groundwork for a more professional, directed, and accountable organizational culture. It is expected that this program will not merely be a briefing session but a catalyst for a shift in mindset among functionaries for the remainder of the term. With this initiative, the Government Studies Student Association aims to continue evolving as an organization that is not only active but also possesses mature planning quality and real-world impact.
